NLC To Add 19,000 MW Capacity By 2025

Betting big on power generation business, Neyveli Lignite Corporation ( NLC) plans to add 19,000 MW capacity by 2025.

The PSU is also planning to get into coal mining in a big way to ensure fuel security for its power plants.We have plans to go for coal mining and coal based power generation in a big way.

We have set ourselves a high growth target to be a 19000MW power company (by 2025) with its own fuel security from its lignite and coal mines, NLC chairman Sarat Kumar Acharya told Parliamentary Consultative Committee during a recent performance review meet.

Acharya informed the House Panel members that NLC has moved from a lignite mining and power eneration Company to become an energy company now by diversifying into coal based power generation and generation from renewable energy sources like solar and wind.
