Odisha To Lose Rs 2,148 cr From Centre’s Funding

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Friday said the state would lose Rs 2148 crore after the Union government on the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission changed the pattern of funding for some schemes and stopped providing assistance to some others.

Reviewing the impact of the reduction in central assistance on different schemes at a meeting here, the Chief Minister said the Centre would be requested to reconsider its decision and to continue funding some important schemes like KBK and Integrated Action Plan for the development of Naxal-dominated areas.

Expressing deep concern over the reduction of Central assistance, Patnaik asked the officials to arrange funds from the state revenue to continue the implementation of some of the important schemes.

As per the new arrangement the central assistance has been stopped for important schemes like BRGF, Police modernisation, setting up of model school in each block,National Mission for Food Processing, KBK, Integrated Action Plan, official sources here said
