Odisha Youth Congress To Hold Convention On Feb 2, Party Bigwigs To Participate

Odisha Pradesh Youth Congress will organise a ”massive” convention here on February 2 in which many senior party leaders including leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, Rajya Sabha MP Manish Tewari, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot are slated to participate.

Youth Congress president Ranjit Choudhury told newspersons here that the convention christened as ‘Yuva Garjan’ (voice of the youth) would be held to expose the ruling BJD governments failure in education, employment, health, agriculture and in food security sectors.

The youth Congress leader said the unemployment problem in the state has become acute after 16 years of BJD rule. Though around 2 lakh unemployed youths were registering their names in the employment exchange every year, the state government failed to provide jobs even to two thousand people.”The education system has slipped to such a horrible situation that trained graduate teachers were working as Sikhya Sahayaks,” Choudhury claimed.

The government, he alleged was looting the money provided by the central government under the ICT scheme through the OKCL.Due to acute drought, around 150 farmers have committed suicide and the state government has failed to provide any compensation to the bereaved family members, Choudhury said.

He further alleged that the state government introduced the NFSA launched by the UPA government very late in the state. But even then it failed to provide ration cards under the NFSA to the eligible beneficiaries. The situation in the health sector was also worse, he said.
