Padmashri Cancer Specialist Dr Pant No More

Padmashri cancer specialist Dr M C Pant, head of radiotherapy department in Lucknow Medical College succumbed today to the dreaded disease against which he had waged a war throughout his medical career.

Dr Pant, who hailed from Ranikhet in Almora district of Uttarakhand, died in Lucknow, after suffering with cancer for a few months.

Padma Shri Dr Pant had held the post of Vice Chancellor of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Medical University, before joining the Lucknow Medical College. He had earlier held the post of founding director of Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow.

Dr Pant had undergone special trainings in CT Scan in Japan and MRI in Germany. He focused on cancer research and Radiotherapy.

He set up several Cancer detection centres in Uttarakhand and Uttara Pradesh and played active role in holding camps for spreading awareness about early detection and prevention of the dreaded disease.
