Postal Dept. To Sell “God Jal”

Sitting at home one can now receive the holy Godavari waters thanks to the Department of Posts which has conceived the novel idea to sell what it calls- God Jal (Godavari river water) to the needy people throughout the country during Godavari Pushakarams scheduled to be held from July 14 to 25.
Andhra Pradesh Circle (Andhra Pradesh and Telagnana) Chief Postmaster General B V Sudhakar told newsmen here Wednesday that the postal department’s new facility will be a boon to the people particularly the aged and physically challenged people who find it difficult to attend the Pushkarams.
The home delivery of the Godavari waters will also benefit the NRIs.
He said the water would be drawn from the Godavari River during the Pushakarams and purified as per Bureau of Indian Standards norms by a certified company at Rajahmundry.
The “God Jal” would be sold at Rs 20 for a 500 ml bottle.
The Andhra Pradesh Government also permitted DoP for taking water from the River for the purpose, he said.
The booking for “God-Jal” would be started from today at all Post Offices, Sub-Post Offices and Head Post offices Across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, People can also book “God-Ja”l through the newly launched e-Commerce web-site www.

At present, the Department has decided to prepare seven lakh bottles and if necessary the capacity would be increased to 20 lakhs, Mr Sudhakar said and added that the Department expected to earn Rs 55 lakh through the sale of “God-Jal”.
He said for delivery of “God-Jal” abroad, the Department would accept American Express and Diners Club cards only.
The Department would release 12 Stamps , one every day, on the theme of Godavari Pushakarams.
The Department was also planning to sell Ganga Jal procuring Ganga Water at Gomukh through the Post Offices and consultations were on with postal authorities in Uttar Pradesh in this regared, he added
