R K Verma takes over as New Secretary: Railway Board

R K Verma, a 1980 batch of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE), today assumed charge of the post of Secretary, Railway Board. Before assuming the post of Secretary, he was serving as adviser (Public Grievance) to the Minister of State for Railways.

Verma, has completed his BTech (Civil Engineering) from IIT(BHU), Varanasi and MTech (Structural Engineering) from IIT Delhi.

He had joined Indian Railways on February 10, 1982. Mr Verma has worked on various railways namely Southern, North-East Frontier Eastern and Western Railway. He has worked for Indian Railways Institute of Civil Engineering, Pune in various capacities.

His technical papers have been published in various national and international, conferences of institution of permanent way (India), International Union of Railways, International Rail Safety, International Heavy Haul Association,and World Congress on Railway Research. He has undergone training in Heavy Haul Operations in South Africa.

Verma has a Life Fellowship of: Institution of Engineers (India), Institution of Permanent Way (India) and Indian Institute of Bridge Engineers.
