Rajya Sabha Refer MMDR Amendment Bill , Coal Mines Bill To Select Committee

The Rajya Sabha Wednesday referred two crucial bills, Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill and Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Bill 2015, to its Select Committees.

The 19-member Committees each, have been mandated to submit their reports by the 18th of this month.

The House referred the two bills, after Opposition members withdrew their Statutory Resolutions disapproving the Ordinances promulgated by the government in this regard.

The announcement was made by Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien. Earlier, Opposition and treasury benches at a meeting of their leaders had agreed to refer both the bills to the Select Committees.
