Ready To Amend Land Bill For Interest of Farmers, Opposition Should Not Make it Prestige Issue : PM Modi

On the Opposition protest to Land Bill, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a conciliatory pitch Friday stating that there was no political motive behind the move. Government is ready to amend Land Bill for the interest of the farmers, Modi said while replying to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address to the Joint session session of Parliament in the Lok Sabha
Not appreciating the Opposition’s protest prior to the discussion on the land bill, he said that if there was any flaws in the provisions , should not we correct the flaws in the interest of farmers ..? “ We are ready to amend the anti-farmers clause”, he asserted .
He sought to know from Congress “ If the Land Law introduced by Congress was good and profarmer , then why Congress routed in last general election”
He reminded Congress that despite previous UPA government was in a hurry to ensure the passage of the Land Bill in Parliament for political gains, BJP had supported the legislation letter and spirit for national interest . But now , the Land Law needs improvement for the faster development , he said adding “ it should not be made prestige issue”. .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday has asked opposition parties not to discuss the issue of corruption through a political prism.
Modi said, corruption has ruined the country and all parties should come together to deal with it.
Stating that we must fight poverty irrespective of religion and political affiliation, Prime Minister also spoke up on the bane of communalism.
He said there is no place for religious intolerance . “ No one can discriminate on the basis of religion and no one can take law in their hands”.
Modi clarified that “ my Government has only one religion- India First and Constitution first”.
Prime Minister said, his government in its first cabinet meeting had set up the Special Investigation Team on black money issue.
Slamming Congress led former UPA Government Modi said that Block Money SIT was not set up for three years despite Supreme Court direction . The Prime Minister said, the situation has forced to talk about black money which is a big thing for the country. Positive steps have been initiated by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to retrieve the Block Money, he said.
He said, governments come and go but the nation, which is driven by people with their strength, will remain.
Modi said, State must always be policy-driven so that the grey areas will be minimum. His government believes in optimum utilisation of country’s infrastructure, Modi said and called for stopping unnecessary expenditure so that, that money can reach the poor of the country.
On MGNREGA , Modi made a blistering attack on Congress and UPA stating that it was a glowing example of Congress failure.
