Real Intolerance Has Been Created By Media: Priyadashan

Blaming media for the rising intolerance in the country, renowned film director Priyadarshan today said the real intolerance has been created by the media.

Speaking at a programme ‘In Conversation with Director Priyadarshan’ at Kala Academy here, the multi-lingual filmmaker from Kerala, said the real intolerance in the country had been created by the media.

It was taking a stray development, blowing it out of proportion and showcasing negative developments, he said.

However, he admitted that the statements like one made recently by by actor Aamir Khan on prevailing intolerance in the country affected filmmakers.

Alleging that media liked only negative news and the newspapers were full of reports of political fights and stuffs like that, he said media were killing the country.

He also said that media were picking up certain stories and blowing them out of proportion.

The director, who along with filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, Anupam Kher and other had participated in the March for India earlier this month which was organised by Sanskar Bharati, A cultural wing of Rashtriya Swayam Sangh (RSS) against returning of wards, also flayed other filmmakers and writers who had returnedtheir awards protesting against alleged prevalence of intolerance in the country
