Resolution On Special Category Status To Assam Passed Unanimously In State Assembly

04 March, Guwahati.

Assam Legislative assembly has unanimously passed a resolution today requesting the Centre to continue with the special category status.

Agriculture minister Rokibul Hussein moved the resolution in the house. All the political parties have given their consent to the move following which the Speaker passed the resolution unanimously.

Hussein said that being a special category state, Assam’s share in central assistance scheme should not be more than 10 percent.

The minister said, recently it has been noticed that Assam has to bear 20 to 50 percent of share in implementing several schemes.

Expressing deep concern on it, the house requested the Centre to ensure the pattern of funding shall be either 100 percent Central share or on the principle of 90 central shares and 10 percent state share.
