Ruckus In Lok Sabha Over Hissar Church Attack And Nadia Nun Gang Rape Issue

The Gangrape incident of a nun in West Bengal and alleged vandalisation of a Church in Haryana created ruckus in the Lok Sabha Tuesday with the opposition including the Congress and CPI(M) tried to corner the government on the issue.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu condemned the incidents and asked the members not to politicise them. Naidu said, law and order is the State subject and the opposition should not try to gain political mileage.

Earlier, raising the issue in the House during Zero Hour, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi expressed concern on such incidents and said it is the duty of the Central government to maintain communal harmony and peace.

Another leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary condemn the gangrape incident in West Bengal and criticised the State government for failing to arrest the culprits.

Mohammed Salim of the CPI(M) also expressed the concern and criticised the West Bengal government for not being able to rein in the anti social elements.

S S Ahluwalia of the BJP termed the incident as highly shameful and demand justice to the victim. He also demanded dismissal of the Mamata Banerjee government.

Defending the state government’s role, Saugata Roy of the TMC said, the government has already ordered a inquiry and the Chief Minister has assured full protection to the victim.
