Ruling BJD Leader Shot Dead By Unknown Miscreants

Ruling BJD leader and the former Chairman of Buguda Notified Area Council (NAC) A Balakrishna Patra (55) was shot dead by two unidentified miscreants at Kharianala in Ganjam district in Odisha Tuesday.
Patra who runs a sanctioned Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) OFF shop in Buguda NAC and was doing plot business, was shot dead by the miscreants when he was returning from Buddhakhol to Buguda on his bike police said. DIG of Police Southern Range Amitav Thakur who visited the spot today said that old enmity might be the reason behind this murder.
The miscreants sprayed two bullets into his head from a close range and he was brought dead to the Buguda Hospital, Thakur said. Patra was the chairman and his wife A Janakirani Patra was the vice-chairperson of Buguda NAC during the last term.
Both husband and wife were elected as councilors of the NAC by BJD tickets this time. Immediately after the incident BJD workers and supporters of the slain leader resorted to road blockade demanding arrest of the assailants. The police which started investigation into the crime was hopeful of nabbing the miscreants although there was no eyewitness to the crime.
