Set Back To Kumar Vishwas : HC Refuses To Hear Plea To Stay Summons By DCW In Illicit Relationship Case

The Delhi High Court today refused to entertain AAP leader Kumar Vishwas’ petition and stay the summons issued to him by the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) in connection with alleged relationship between him and a former party member.

The DCW had sent summons to Vishwas after hearing a complaint filed by a woman who alleged that the poet was not dismissing the rumours about their illicit relationship. The Commission had asked Vishwas to respond to the allegations.

The woman submitted before the DCW that Vishwas should clear the picture and make his submissions to it and the media that she was innocent and had nothing to do with the AAP leader. The AAP leader had moved the High Court seeking quashing of the DCW summons and prayed that that the woman be restrained from making public statements and questioned Commission’s authority to issue such summons.

Vishwas has alleged that DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh was working under some political vendetta against him. The Commission had first asked him, his wife and two others to appear before it on May 4 and later a fresh summons for May 6 was issued after they had failed to appear.

The woman had said she had campaigned along side Vishwas, who was pitted against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, in Amethi during 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
