Tata Trust Signs MoU With UP Govt To Improve Quality Of Life Of People

Launching a new era of development work in the state, Th Uttar Pradesh government and the Tata Trusts today entered into a long-term partnership in community development to improve the quality of life of the people.
On the presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Chairman of the Tata Trusts Ratan Tata, UP chief secretary Alok Ranjan and executive trustee of the Tata trusts R. Venkataramanan signed the Memorandumm of Understanding(MoU) at the chief minister’s residence here.
Chief Minister Yadav welcoming the Tata Trusts said that the new era has started with Tata Trusts when life of the people of the state would change in the coming days. “People don’t see the state like it should be in the past but after Samajwadi Party came to power in 2012 things have started changing,” the CM said while adding that the entry of Ratan Tata has boosted the welfare and we appreciate the blessings from him.
The CM also said that his government has already launched several welfare programmes in the state and if budget allows then all the poor families in the state would be covered with Samajwadi Pension.
Chief Secretary Mr Ranjan said that the MoU will certainly improve the quality of life of the people of UP with special thrust on maternal and children welfare. SP MP from Kannauj and wife of the CM Dimple Yadav, state minister Rajendra Choudhury and Abhishek Mishra were among the prominent present in the function.
The thrust of the MoU would be in sector of Health, Livelihoods and education. The agreement comes after the meeting between the CM and Ratan Tata in Unnao last month during opening of a sports academy for handicapped by Padma Shree Arunima Sinha. Tata Trusts would be providing support in the state government’s endeavours in poverty alleviation, employment generation, increasing income and infrastructure development, a spokesman said. To ensure proper execution of work and effective monitoring, a joint state-level steering committee comprising of representatives of the state government and the Tata Trusts would be constituted now.
The spokesman further informed that the sectors in which the state government and the Tata Trusts would be working include mother-infant health, preparing and implementation of a nutrition programme for better health of mother-child, special efforts in ensuring that anaemia (lack of blood) is eliminated in women.
A mechanism would be developed so that cancer can be detected at an early stage and a cancer registry would also be prepared. Both sides would work together to ensure quality education and job-oriented training in various sectors.
Under the MoU, developing off-grid solar energy as well as solar energy based irrigation system, establishing solar water lifting pumps, hi-tech plant nurseries, introduction of improved varieties and techniques of horticulture, assimilation of various varieties, agro-forestry, bio-farming and combined efforts to increase agriculture harvest, mechanisation, post-harvest management are some initiatives involved.
The MoU would also encompass safe storage, agri-marketing, encouraging micro-irrigation, developing high quality seeds, development of value chain for milk, menthol, garlic, onion, maize, pulses and banana.
