TMC Leader Sovan ChattrjeeTakes Oath As Mayor Kolkata

Sovan Chatterjee of the Trinamool Congress, today took oath of the office, as the Mayor of Kolkata, in a colourful function in the city’s heritage building, Town Hall. This is for the second time that Mr. Chatterjee has been elected as mayor of the City of Joy.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee,who was the Chief Guest at the function said that the Trinamool Congress led Calcutta Municipal Corporation Board, has done commendable job for the promotion of the civic amenities during their last five-year term.

The opposition Left Front councilors of Calcutta Municipal Corporation boycotted the oath ceremony in protest against the alleged large-scale violence and malpractices in the municipal elections by the ruling party. However the newly elected Congress and BJP councilors were present on the occasion.
