BJP, Congress Slams AAP Over Their MLAs Ddemanding Hike In Salary

The demand by a section of Aam Aadmi Party MLAs in Delhi for an increase in their salaries and allowances have not gone down well with the opposition parties questioning their previous claim of not availing VIP facilities.

A delegation of 20 AAP legislators had on Friday reportedly met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and put forward such a demand. They have cited the problems being faced by them in meeting expenses that include the cost of maintaining office in their constituencies, transportation and running a household.

Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay alleged that the demand of the AAP MLAs about hike in salary have exposed the dual faces of their politics. He said when the AAP government was formed, its leaders had claimed to never support the VIP culture or any kind of perks but now they want cars, bungalows and all benefits along with a hike in salary.

Senior Congress leader Ajay Maken also slammed the AAP on the issue alleging that AAP leaders are not keeping any of the promises made during the elections. He said 21 parliamentary secretaries were appointed, who were allotted government vehicles and offices which is contrary to their pledge of not taking any government facilities.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj defended party MLAs demand. Talking to media in New Delhi, he said some MLAs have no alternative source of income and they are facing financial challenges.
