Defeat in Delhi polls will not slow down economic reforms : Arun Jaitley
12Feb, New Delhi
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Thursday said that BJP’s defeat in the Delhi assembly election will not slow down the economic reforms in the country.
Replying to a media query during the official briefing of 5th Indo-US Economic and Financial Partnership meeting, Jaitley said the Centre is determined to go ahead on the path of economic reforms to generate investment, bring jobs and alleviate poverty.
He said that just because one election has not been won, it is no ground to believe that there will be a slowdown in the process the government has undertaken. India’s economy is poised to take off at a much faster pace , the Finance Minister said.
Talking about his meeting with US treasury Secretary Jacob J Lew, Jaitley said, both side discussed money laundering and terrorism funding. He said the concerned authorities have taken appropriate action in this regard.
The US treasury secretary said that deepening bonds with India is a key priority for the United States.
