FICCI Predicts Growth Of Media ,Entertainment Industry At 13.9 % Annually

The FICCI has said that the media and entertainment industry is set to grow at 13.9 percent annually to become an industry worth 1,96,400 crore rupees by 2019.

The FICCI report was released by Additional Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Ministry, J S Mathur and actor Aamir Khan at the FICCI Frames event in Mumbai Wednesday .

The report predicts that growth of digital media will be the fastest in coming years, while traditional media will continue to grow at a healthy pace.

The report says that the number of TV households rose to 168 million in 2014 and the sector is likely to grow further due to digitisation.

It adds that 2014 was also an important year for the radio industry as the government started proceedings on phase III auctions covering 69 cities and 135 channels.

According to the report, overall advertising revenues grew at 14.2 percent to 41,400 crore rupees in 2014. It said that in the coming years, advertising market will be driven by the emergence of e-commerce players as a significant new category.
