Mann Ki Baat : OROP Soon, PM Assures Ex-Servicemen

The Prime Minister assured the ex-servicemen that the government will soon resolve the One Rank-One Pension issue.
In his 23-minute address to the people of the country through ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on All India Radio, Narendra Modi said, interests of the former defence personnel is a matter of faith and expression of patriotism for him.
Terming the issue as complicated and pending for last 40 years, he said, the concerned officials in the government are engaged to a solution to this issue. The Prime Minister asked the ex-servicemen not to be swayed by the politics on the issue.
Expressing satisfaction on the recently launched social security schemes,r Modi said, over eight crore 52 lakh people have joined the schemes in just 20 days. This shows people’s faith in Centre’s social uplifting initiatives for them.
The schemes –Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana are very important initiative in the direction of ensuring social security.
He said, it is unthinkable of security scheme at a token payment of one Rupee per month. He said, government wants to see the poor self empowered so that he need not to depend on others for self survival. Modi said, he wants to create an army of poor against poverty.
On recently launched DD Kisan Channel, the Prime Minister said, it is an open University of farmers. He said, there is something for everyone engaged in the agriculture and allied sectors. He asked farmers and fishermen to take maximum advantage from the channel in modernizing their vocation.
The Prime Minister said Yoga has become a catalytic agent to connect the world and is very much relevant in the context of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam- the whole world is one family. Asking the countrymen to make International Yoga Day, which will be celebrated on the 21st of June, a success, he urged Indians to become Yoga ambassador and make this important knowledge easily available to the world for the welfare of mankind.
Advising the people to go out on the summer vacation in different parts of the country and try to learn diversities of language, food habits and traditions, he said, they should try to write down their experiences and share them with him along with photographs at Incredible India# (hashtag). The Prime Minister assured that the things liked by him will be shared with others too.
Congratulating the students who have just passed 12th and 10th board examinations, Modi asked them to pick up the future course of study on the basis of their aptitude. Urging the students who have not succeeded in their examinations not to be disheartened and take it as an opportunity to find new avenues.
Giving a personal touch, he cited an example from the book of former President and nuclear scientist Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, and said, Dr Kalam became a renowned scientist after failure in the ambition of becoming a pilot.
