President Mukherjee Gives Assent For Re-Promulgation Of Land Ordinance

President Pranab Mukherjee Sunday gave his assent to re-promulgation of land ordinance. The Cabinet Saturday had approved re-promulgation of the ordinance, which was to expire on 3rd of next month.

Land bill is currently with the Joint Committee of Parliament for detailed discussion on the provisions of the controversial legislation.

Opposition parties including Congress and Left as well as some NDA allies are opposed to the bill. Congress had said it is a breach of faith and injustice with farmers of the country and demanded that the Ordinance should be withdrawn immediately.
