Patanjali’s mega food park foundation laid in Assam

The foundation stone of Rs 1300 crore Patanjali Herbal and Mega Food Park — the biggest ever investment by the company in the country, was laid at Balipara in northern Assam Sunday.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone at a ceremony attended by Yoga guru Ramdev, spiritual leader Acharya Balakrishna, MP Babul Supriyo, several state ministers, MPs and MLAs, among others
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister termed the foundation-stone-laying ceremony of Balipara unit of Patanjali Ayurveda, as a historic moment for the people of Assam.
The Unit would generate employment of over 5,000 people benefiting the youth aswell as the local farmers.
He said the Herbal and Mega Food Park would start production in a record time of 99 days.
Yoga guru Ramdev said, “This Balipara unit of Patanjali would produce Rs 20,000 crore annual production, with an annual production capacity of around 12 lakh MT. We target to speed up our construction so as to open the Park formally on February 15, 2017.”
He said cent percent profit from the Food Park would be dedicated for the welfare of Assam by setting up school and skill development centre in each district of Assam and by establishing a higher education institute in the State.
He called upon the local farmers to plant herbal and medicinal plants so that they can supply their local produce to the Unit and reap benefits.
The Plant would even produce rice bran oil from the remains of the rice husks.
Ramdev demonstrated some yoga asanas much to the delight of the crowd.
Assam Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary expressed gratefulness to Ramdev for setting up the Patanjali Food Park and initiating a new chapter in the industrial map of Assam.
Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mohillary declared that he would allot 1,000 acres of land to Patanjali Ayurveda in Bodoland for setting up of a similar unit and a gaushala in the area.
Earlier in the day, the programme began with a yajna performed by Ramdev, MD Patanjali, Acharya Balkrishna, Principal Secretary, Industries, Ravi Capoor and Commissioner, Industries, Dr K K Dwivedi.
