SIC Orders District Authority Shimla To Give Info On Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s Banglow Within Ten Days

29 June, Shimla

The Himachal Pradesh Information Commission (SIC) on Monday ordered district authority Shimla to release within ten days , the RTI information about Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Robert Vadra’s under construction Banglow at Chhrabra at the outskirts of capital Shimla .

A Division bench of Commission comprising Chief Information Commissioner Bhim Sen and Member K.D. Batish set-aside the Additional District Commissioner Shimla’s reply in this regard that RTI information could not shared as Priyanka is an SPG protected.

The order passed on Monday said that it could not withhold the information sought by RTI activist Devashish Bhattacharya on the security ground, as there is no such provision in the RTI Act cited by ADC while denying the information.

In his application Bhattacharya had sought copies of land records of Priyanka’s properties which includes registration-cum-sale deed, the status of the land and the permission granted under Section 118 of the HP Land and Tenancy Act.

In February this year Priyanka had requested the state government not to divulge any details of her property, as this could put her life in danger.
